Grand Hotel Poltu Quatu: an enchanting corner of Costa Smeralda

If you are thinking of spending a holiday in Sardinia, on the Costa Smeralda, one of the most exclusive coastal stretches in Italy, the 5-star Grand Hotel Poltu Quatu could be an excellent choice. The name of the resort is already a program. Poltu Quatu, facing the island of Caprera, in Gallura dialect means "hidden port”. A natural inlet that offers shelter to boats, in Costa Smeralda, as you can imagine, they are mainly yachts. The Grand Hotel Poltu Quatu was built around this port, like a seaside village, with the idea that you don't need to use a car when you come here on vacation. There is the hotel, with rooms furnished with Sardinian taste, simple and at the same time elegant, from deluxe to suites, characterized by the eclecticism of furnishings left by the rich Arabs who used to spend their summer here. There are apartments, for those who prefer greater autonomy without giving up the services of a hotel, some with a privileged view on the harbour. There are restaurants, more informal and inexpensive, and Tanit, elegant and one of the most renowned in the area, exquisite dishes and an enchanting view of the fjord. Try the octopus of an amazing softness, as well as the "porceddu", one of the traditional dishes of Sardinia, which has a much longer cooking time than the classic 5 hours! In the surrounding area, however, there is no shortage of farmhouses where you can savor typical Sardinian dishes in an intimate and familiar atmosphere.

The idea of the village is completed by bars for a drink at sunset or after dinner, a real must this year is the "spritzeria" which offers many variations of the legendary aperitif, and the clothing and handicraft shops. Each day can take place in total relaxation by the pool, or you can choose a boat trip to the fabulous Maddalena archipelago, or to discover one of the many enchanting bays of Caprera. An alternative can be an adventurous safari, entering the rugged and fascinating hinterland of the Costa Smeralda by jeep.

Of course, the sea remains the priority for all guests of the Grand Hotel Poltu Quatu who can take advantage of convenient shuttles to reach affiliated white sandy beaches, where umbrellas and sunbeds are available, the costs of which are already included in the rate of the accommodation. A special plan has already been approved by the Region for the construction of eco-sustainable floating platforms off the inlet to give the opportunity to experience an even closer proximity with the beautiful and unique sea of Sardinia.
