Bawah Reserve Resort: a luxury retreat on an unspoilt island

Are you willing to invest some money to reach an unspoiled island and stay in an exclusive resort? The small Anambas archipelago is located in Indonesia but is only 150 nautical miles from Singapore (with a ferry ride you reach Batam and from here you take a seaplane).
The American CNN has defined them as one of the most spectacular coastal spots in South East Asia.

There are not many resorts on these islands and they offer a very basic accommodation, except for the Bawah Reserve Resort which is located in a marine reserve surrounded by crystal clear waters, blue lagoons and coral reefs. From an architectural point of view this resort was based on the concept of sustainable luxury.

Designed by the Singapore architect, Sim Boon Yang, it reflects a holistic design, with the use of ecological materials such as bamboo and recycled wood, with an orientation to optimal comfort while reducing energy requirements, and with a slight impact on the environment.

Merging contemporary taste with indigenous craftsmanship, Soom Boon Yang has created refined exotic structures, built on supports that require minimal interference with natural terrain.

His inspiration for the curvatures of the roofs of the pavilions, which seem to cascade down the hill, was the shape and the environmental context of the islands themselves, thus creating an alternative architectural style with a refined five-star taste.

All accommodations have a private veranda. The Garden Suites, in the middle of the jungle, have an area of 70 square meters and recall the style of safaris luxury tent camps. The Beach Suites have the same size and are close to the beach. Deluxe Beach Suites are also available, with a huge space, 150 square meters, suitable for families. Finally, for those who prefer direct contact with the sea, the 105 sqm Overwater Bungalows could not be missing.

There is no need to add that for honeymoon couples Overwater Bungalows  offer the most romantic accommodation among all those available! The view of the lagoon and the outer islands is splendid.

Ideal to take a cocktail at sunset, the Jules Verne bar also has a viewing platform, the Grouper, whose name is taken from the large fish that live in the lagoon, is instead a social hub for listening to music and meeting people. While the Boat House is the bar for you, if you really can't stay without the beach in front of you.

The Treetop restaurant, as the name suggests, is surrounded by the tropical jungle but still offers beautiful views of the lagoon.

In short, a stay at the Bawah Resort Reserve requires a small investment but  where it is possible to find a spot as magical as this?
