Orient Express from Paris to Venice: an incredible journey into the history of luxury tourism

Who of you does not know the famous Agatha Christie novel, Assassination on the Orient Express, which has also inspired films of great international success? Originally designed to transport travelers from Paris to Constantinople, in a lavish environment with 5-star hotel services, it was considered the no plus ultra of the luxury travels of the time. The first train left the Gare de l'Est in 1883 and is still in service today, thanks to Belmond Management Limited, which has managed to preserve the magic of that era on board.
I have just experienced a fantastic trip from Paris to Venice, on board the Venice Simplon Orient Express. No murders! But only the pleasure of enjoying every moment of the trip both for the services of the highest level, which make the traveler feel like a prince, and for the beautiful views that flow from the window, especially when crossing Switzerland.

We came aboard elegant for a first welcome drink, a flute of champagne. The train carriages, built in the 1920s retain their unaltered vintage charm, all have splendid furnishings and decorations made by skilled artisans, in a blaze of inlaid woods and precious brocade.

The 3 restaurant carriages, Lalique, Etoile du Nord and Oriental, create an ambiance that has no comparison in the best luxury resort in the world. Consuming the excellent dishes here is not just a gastromomic experience but living the history of a travelling past that still shines today.
